About Riga Orthodox Chamber Choir Blagovest
Riga Orthodox Chamber Choir BLAGOVEST was founded in 1990 with an aim to popularize forgotten treasures of Russian sacred music, which makes the most part of the choir's repertoire.
The founder and leader of the choir, MA Aleksander Brandavs has graduated from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (Department of Choir Conducting) and serves as Regent (Precentor) at the Pardaugava Holy Trinity Church in Riga. The choir received recognition in various international festivals and music competitions, as well as realized a number of co-operation projects with well-known soloists, choirs and composers both in Latvia and abroad.
In 2017, BLAGOVEST has released its 7th album “In Thy Kingdom” which is a tribute to the choir’s 25th anniversary.
